A size check is one part of the decision. Confirm the product instructions and safe installation before using your setup.

Quick answer

A product can fit the floor and still fail the trunk opening. Measure both, keep the product upright in an allowed orientation, and reserve room for seat movement and compartment access. A dimensional pass does not establish safe restraint.

Measure the actual usable space

With the vehicle parked, set the seats where they will be used. Measure the minimum width between wheel wells, usable depth and practical height under hinges, covers and sloping seatbacks. Then measure the narrowest opening along the intended straight insertion path. Enter dimensions of the expanded product, including handles, lid and loaded bulging. Nominal cargo volume is not a rectangular bound.

How clearance is calculated

The checker takes the smaller of usable width and wheel-well width. It subtracts twice the uncertainty margin from width, depth, height and opening dimensions, and subtracts the reserved access depth from the floor depth. It evaluates only allowed upright orientations. It requires one orientation to pass the floor, height and opening together; it never assumes the product can rotate inside the trunk.

A rejected option you can reproduce

Illustrative centimeters: floor 100 × 80 × 50, wheel-well width 95, opening 45 × 40, access depth 10, margin 1 on each side; product 60 × 35 × 30. With width across only, the floor fits but the 60 cm width exceeds the 43 cm adjusted opening. Result: incompatible in the modeled orientation. If a quarter-turn is supported, the 35 cm width can pass; turning-room and real-world checks still remain.

Keep securing separate

No measured dimensions here establish load restraint, anchor strength or crash performance. Flexible products may deform, but that cannot be assumed to solve a failed check. Follow exact vehicle and product securing instructions. A CargoTech corner piece has a manufacturer-stated envelope of 8 × 8 × 5 inches; fitting one piece does not evaluate an entire containment layout.
